From Piraeus port to our table

The port is about 6 km from our door along the coast. The tram from Akti Poseidonos and four bus lines from the harbour come to Tzitzifies, and the X96 airport bus passes both. How to come, and how to time a meal around a sailing.

Where we are, seen from the port

O Thalassinos is in Tzitzifies, the seaside quarter of Kallithea between Piraeus and the centre of Athens, about 6 km from the port along Poseidonos Avenue. The tram and four bus lines run from the harbour along the coast to the «Τζιτζιφιές» stops, eleven to thirteen minutes on foot from our door, and a taxi takes the same coast road. Look for a low house on the corner of Irakleous and Lysikratous streets, with blue fish tiles on a pink wall.

By tram: line 7 from Akti Poseidonos

Tram line 7 (Ακτή Ποσειδώνος – Ασκληπιείο Βούλας) starts on the harbour front at the «Ακτή Ποσειδώνος» terminus, 140 m, a two-minute walk, from Karaiskaki square and gate E8, the usual gate of the Saronic ferries (Aegina, Agistri, Hydra, Poros, Spetses); the Cyclades gates further along the same quay are a few minutes more. Ride towards Voula to «Τζιτζιφιές», the sixteenth stop after the terminus. From the platform walk up Lamprou Katsoni street, away from the sea, turn right into Lysikratous, and you reach our corner with Irakleous: 11 minutes on foot.

By bus: 130, 217, A1 and B1 from the harbour

Four lines leave from the south side of the harbour: 130 (Πειραιάς – Ν. Σμύρνη), 217 (Πειραιάς – Αγ. Δημήτριος – Στ. Δάφνη), A1 (Πειραιάς – Βούλα) and B1 (Πειραιάς – Άνω Γλυφάδα). Their «Πειραιάς» terminus is on Akti Xaveriou, by the cruise terminals, and all four stop along Akti Miaouli at «Τελωνείο» (the Customs House) and «Άγ. Νικόλαος» before heading out along the coast. Get off at «Τζιτζιφιές» on Poseidonos Avenue and walk inland along Epameinonda street, then Lysikratous, to Irakleous: 11 to 13 minutes on foot, depending on the platform.

By taxi or car

About 6 km: Poseidonos Avenue towards Faliro, then Epameinonda and Lamprou Katsoni streets to Irakleous. Tell the driver Ηρακλέους και Λυσικράτους 32, Τζιτζιφιές (Irakleous and Lysikratous, Tzitzifies). We do not publish journey times, because the traffic on the coast road decides them.

From the airport, along the coast

The X96 express bus (airport – Piraeus) runs along the coast in both directions and stops at «Τζιτζιφιές» on Poseidonos Avenue, about 12 minutes on foot from our door. In Piraeus it serves the metro station and Karaiskaki square by the ferry gates, so it is also the bus from our door to the port and to the airport.
